It is primarily engaged in the activities of a ship agency. The main activity is ship-agency (liner and tramp) and other related business, such as stevedoring, container terminals, container depots, forwarding, groupage and chartering. It was established in 1853 by the great-grandfather of present Perez y Cia shareholders and directors. The agency has a registered office located in Santander, Spain. The agency has own offices in 18 ports in Spanish mainland and the Canary Islands, and offices in Madrid, with subagents in other Spanish ports. It has subsidiary companies in Puerto Rico, Dominican Republic, Cuba, Panama, Jamaica, Trinidad and Tobago, and Guyana. The agency is the representative in Spain for Schutzverein Deutscher Reeder V. AG (German Shipowners Defence Club, Hamburg), and it is also the representative of Registro Italiano Navale (RINA) in some Spanish ports. It is a member of BIMCO (The Baltic & International Maritime Conference) and MULTIPORT SHIP AGENCIES NETWORK for Spain, Cuba and Puerto Rico.
